Dutch financial lawyer
Dutch financial lawyer

Jasper is a Dutch financial lawyer, and both advises and litigates in connection with regulatory and commercial law.

In 2010 Jasper successfully completed the post graduate specialization course in Dutch financial Law (in Dutch: “Effectenrecht”) at the Grotius Academy of the University of Nijmegen.

Aiming for the best result for his clients, Jasper finds the best solutions are often found outside the courtroom. He is recognized for his ability to resolve disputes by thinking in solutions, rather than by thinking in problems.

With regard to legal advice concerning regulatory law, good contacts with the Netherlands Authority for Financial Markets (AFM) are both essential and critical in resolving (and avoiding) legal problems.
In this respect, Jasper has both relevant experience and excellent contacts with the AFM.

Jasper assists his clients by giving high-quality advice on Dutch regulatory law. With good contacts and dealings with the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and the Dutch Central Bank (DNB), Jasper can give high-quality advice and support concerning the Financial Supervision Act.

An example of the major increase in regulatory law is the “MiFID” (the “Markets in Financial Instruments Directive”), which came into effect as of the 1st of November, 2007.

The MiFID regulates financial enterprises, including:

  • portfolio managers
  • stockbrokers
  • broker dealers
  • corporate finance firms.

Jasper has in depth knowledge of regulatory law.
Examples of Dutch regulatory law are the rules concerning informing consumers and the financial enterprises’ duty of care, and the rules for applying for licenses.
In many cases it is possible for financial enterprises to make use of an exemption facility.

Jasper speaks both English and Dutch.
