Hidde Reitsma is a Dutch corporate lawyer, also specialized in Dutch insolvency law.

Hidde advises and litigates concerning a number of legal matters, among which:

  • (international) business transactions (including sale and purchase arrangements, distribution, agency, franchise in The Netherlands)
  • corporate architecture, mergers and acquisitions (including setting up or terminating joint ventures, general partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability companies - "B.V."’s)
  • corporate and directors’ liability (also in proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam)
  • the buy-out of minority shareholders and inquiries into corporate mismanagement.

In 2007 Hidde successfully completed the post graduate specialization course in Corporate Liability and the post-graduate specialization course in Insolvency Law ("cum laude"), both at the acclaimed Grotius Academy of the University of Nijmegen.

Hidde is a member of Insolad (the Dutch Insolvency Specialist Association) and Insol Europe (its European equivalent).
The District Court of Amsterdam regularly appoints Hidde as Official Receiver in insolvencies.
In this capacity Hidde:

  • investigates the affairs of bankrupts, directors and officers of insolvent companies
  • reports to the Court on causes of business failures, and (when appropriate) takes legal action against persons for insolvency offences
  • realizes assets of insolvent companies and bankrupts
  • investigates and agrees on creditor’s claims
  • distributes the proceeds.

Furthermore, Hidde is nominated regularly by the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce to act as arbitrator or binding advisor in commercial and corporate disputes.

Hidde speaks Dutch and English fluently, and has working knowledge of both German and French.
