Category: Mergers and acquisitions

Corporate Lawyer Dirk de Waard assisted Stayokay Foundation during its successful acquisition of Blue Collar Hotel B.V. In the process, 100% of the shares were acquired from its shareholders.

Stayokay: largest hostel boiler from Terschelling to Maastricht

Stayokay is the largest hostel chain in the Netherlands with 21 locations from Terschelling to Maastricht. Since 1929, Stayokay has offered (inter)national guests the ideal place to stay; sleeping in private or shared rooms. But Stayokay is also the right place for meetings, parties and business events. Stayokay provides almost 900,000 overnight stays annually.

Marijke Schreiner, managing director of Stayokay, said:

“Eindhoven had been high on our wish list for some time as a location to open a hostel. We are very happy that we can now offer our guests a nice stay in Eindhoven. Our newest hostel is at Strijp-S, a unique and characterful area within the city.”

Stayokay’s growth ambitions

The acquisition of the Blue Collar Hotel is part of Stayokay’s growth strategy to offer affordable & sustainable accommodation in more places in the Netherlands. This can be done by taking over existing ho(s)tel operations, but also by redeveloping properties that currently have a different purpose. The acquisition of Blue Collar Hotel, thereby adding accommodation in Eindhoven, is in line with this ambition.
