Stephan Mulders specializes in privacy and technology law. He always looks for creative solutions and the path of least resistance. Stephan studied supply chain management and is currently pursuing a PhD at Maastricht University on the subject of AVG damages. His areas of interest are.

E-commerce/marketplaces: Advising and acting in various disputes for larger e-commerce and platform entrepreneurs (+3 mio turnover). For example:

  • Co-founder of the largest online legal community for platform entrepreneurs in the Netherlands/Belgium.
  • 120+ disputes with Bol.com on closures and policy point deductions (~80% success rate).
  • Advisory processes on joining specific platforms as well as managing intellectual property on them.
  • Litigation on maintaining intellectual property as well as defending against NTD requests.
  • Participant in strategic consultations with, among others, Bol and the ACM on improving the position of platform entrepreneurs.
  • Participated in various podcasts.

Data privacy / IT / media law:

  • Advising national and international organizations on IT, AI and AVG compliance. Including with respect to health data, DSA, AI Act and Data Act.
  • Support in negotiation and writing of agreements related to technology developments and joint ventures. For example, on secure sharing of (personal) data.
  • Advice on development and implementation of new technologies and products (e.g. to the winner of the National Privacy Awards 2024).
  • Litigation against, among others, Google, Meta and WordPress about the right to be forgotten, online reviews and online reputation. For clients at home and abroad.
  • Acting against regulators such as the Dutch Data Protection Authority and the Dutch Media Authority.
  • Speaker at various international conferences and universities, such as ITechLaw, Amsterdam Privacy Days, University of Groningen, Maastricht University, and Privacy Rules.
  • Participant in various podcasts and commentator on radio and television.

Intellectual property law: Mainly focused on soft IP (copyright/brands/models/trade names):

  • Trademark and trade name enforcement litigation, for domestic and international clients.
  • Advising on IP protection in joint ventures.
  • Due Diligence in acquisitions.
  • Advising on the transfer of intellectual property rights.
